This guide is only for customers who purchased AsureID via Controlsoft in the United Kingdom
Firstly note your Asure ID license details, they can be found in the file menu, options, licensing page.
Please copy your Asure ID database file onto your desktop. The default datasource for AsureID database is an Microsoft Access database - but can be Microsoft SQL SQL or Oracle. This Knowledge base only details moving the default Microsoft Access database.
The default Microsoft Access database is named AsureID.mdb and located in
C:\ProgramData\HID Global\Asure ID\AsureID.mdb
ProgramData folder is a hidden folder. The folder viewing options need to be changed to show
"Hidden files and folders". The option is found in the control panel, folder options, View, Hidden file and folders, select the Show option - or via file explorer, view and tick the Hidden items checkbox - as in the screen shot below for Windows 10 File Explorer.
Please note the security permissions applied to the AsureID.mdb file - as these may need to be replicated on the new computer.
When the database is safely saved to your desktop, use the add and remove programs feature to uninstall the application. Remember to use the "
deactivate license" when
installing
and copy the license number down somewhere safe ready to reuse.
and click the drop down for "All products" - AsureID will be the top option.
Download and install on the new computer.
Copy your AsureID.mdb database file to the new computer into the location c:\Program Data\HID Global\
Please note that you may have to reset the file permissions on the AsureID.mdb - "Everyone" group has full access to this file.
Finally, open the application and use your license code to activate the software.
