Knowledge base 236: iClass SE and Multiclass SE HID Wallet Pass Compatibility Guide

This guide explains how to verify whether an iClass SE or Multiclass SE reader is compatible with HID Wallet Pass, and how to upgrade the firmware to enable compatibility.

You will require an Android Phone with NFC (if you haven’t got access to an Android phone, please contact presales@controlsoft.com for alternatives).

1.  Please download the HID Reader Manager App from the following link:  Android – Google Play Store Once installed, please register yourself in the app.
   
   
2. Press 'Use NFC' and hold your phone to your reader, and wait until the inspection is complete.
    
   
   
3.  If, after inspecting your reader, you receive something similar to the below, jump to step 4. 
    
   
   If you receive the error message:
   'The version of firmware currently loaded is not supported with the HID Reader Manager application. Please refer to the user guide located on home screen for supported firmware versions.'
    
   
   This means that the reader is NOT compatible with HID Wallet Pass and must be replaced with a compatible reader. Please contact presales@controlsoft.com to discuss this further. 
   
   
4. To upgrade the firmware of a reader, press the ‘Upgrade Firmware’ button and follow the instructions until the upgrade is complete. 
    
   
   If you receive any errors upgrading the firmware of the reader, please contact support@controlsoft.com. 
   
   

   Once the firmware of the reader is upgraded, it is then ready to have the HID Wallet Pass Keys installed onto it. 
   
   

   It is a requirement to have the HID Wallet Pass Key authorised on your Android Phone before carrying this out. If you have not yet got the Key, please contact presales@controlsoft.com to be authorised. 
   
   

   When you are authorised with the Key on your phone, please follow this Knowledge Base, which outlines how to configure a Key onto a reader.
