Overview of Identity Access

The Identity Access (IA) Management Software from Controlsoft© is a PC-based Access Control Management system. The Identity Access software manages the access control database, which is downloaded to one or more Master iNet® Controllers.  The iNet controller(s) make the decisions as to whether access is granted or denied and therefore the door remans locked or opens.  There are 2 options to expand the system above 1 door controller. This is either by adding each controller individually to the Local Area Network or to have 1 Master on the network and up to 15 further devices downstream using the on-board RS-485 network.

Identity Access is free to download and install with up to 12 Doors or 12 Readers. If you wish to expand beyond this then there are 2 license options, IA-Pro (up to 64 doors or readers) or IA-ENT (65 doors or readers and above).

iNet Cable Specifications

For RS485 connections between iNet controllers we recommend using Belden 8723 (or equivalent). This is a 2 twisted pair cable (22AWG), with each pair screened. NEVER use twisted pair CAT5 or CAT6 cables for RS485 connections. Note: the RS485 ‘+’ and ‘–’ connections must be run on either side of the same twisted pair (e.g. Green and White), with a separate core (e.g. Black) used for the REF connection. The total distance of the RS485 bus must not exceed 1000m.

From the iNet controller to Wiegand readers we recommend using Belden 9538 (or equivalent). This is an untwisted 8 core cable (24AWG) with an overall screen. Do not use twisted pair CAT5 or CAT6 cables to connect readers to the iNet controller. The maximum length of the Wiegand reader cable is 80m but if this distance exceeds 25m we recommend using a local power supply for the reader.

Between the iNet Controller and Exit Buttons we recommend 22 AWG or thicker gauge i.e. alarm cable. We recommend cables with spare cores in case a core breaks. Do not use CAT5 or CAT6 cables to connect exit buttons.

Between the iNet Controller and Locks we recommend 18 AWG or thicker gauge cable. We recommend cables with spare cores in case a core breaks. Do not use CAT5 or CAT6 cables to connect locks.

Identity Access Server PC Requirements

The following specifications will suffice for systems with fewer than 10,000 users:
  1. Windows 10
  2. Intel i5 processor @ 3GHZ
  3. 8GB RAM
  4. 100GB Free Disk Space
  5. 10/100 Network Card
  6. USB Port (for a USB enrolment reader or webcam)
  7. Screen resolution = 1280x800 or better
If you do have more than 10,000 users, we would recommend an i7 processor with 16Gb RAM and 250GB free disk space

Changing the IP address of a Master ACU

The iNet IP Utility has been designed to make the setup of iNet's onto your customers network as simple as possible. The tool gives the ability to setup your controllers to static addresses, without the need to only plug 1 iNet onto the network at once, with or without the use of a DHCP server or your laptop sitting in the same range as the controller. The tool also utilizes the ability to set up passwords on the iNet door controllers to maximum the security on your customers network.

The iNet IP Utility is downloadable from within the Controlsoft Login area.
