Knowledge base 195: Backup Tool in Identity Access 9
This article will explain how to backup and restore the database using the build-in Backup Tool in Identity Access V9
1. Before you can use the Backup Tool from the software, we need to specify the destination of the backup and where we want to store the files.
2. From the IA software click on the SETUP tab (1) then click Configuration and login (2). Choose BACKUP from the left-hand side (3) then click add (4).
3. On the next window, name your backup (1), select the databases (2), and choose the destination where you want to store them (3)
If you are storing the backups on a network drive or another machine that requires different windows credentials, you can set the username and password for the authentication here (4).
4. It is recommended that you schedule your backups to run every 24 hrs to always have the latest information backed up (5). Tick the 'Run Backup at' option and choose the time and days. Then click Accept.
5. Now open the IA User Interface. When your system does a backup, it will be recorded in the system log. From there you can check if it was successful.
6. Navigate to TOOLS --> BACKUP - here you can manually run your backup and also restore the database. Click on the RESTORE tab and you will see your backup available to restore from. Select the backup job and click RESTORE. The services will need to restart.
7. Repeat the same procedure for the other databases. (IAMain is the database that stores the whole configuration of your access control system doors, readers, users, controllers etc)
