Knowledge base 2: Using HID Readers on Metal Surface
When mounting HID iClass/Multiclass SE readers, it is strongly recommended that they are NOT mounted onto metal surfaces, as this greatly affects the performance of the reader. In some instances, performance can be affected if the reader is within 30cms of a metal surface.
In some installations, however, mounting onto metal is unavoidable. In these circumstances, doubling up on the GND wire to the controller and connecting them to the GND terminal as shown below may overcome the issue.
